Muri Lagoon, Rarotonga Biolytix System
South Pacific paradise of Muri Lagoon in the Cook IslandsThe South Pacific paradise of Muri Lagoon in the Cook Islands has been a popular spot for kiwi and international holiday makers for decades. However there has been increasing concern that poorly treated effluent from high concentrations of older style septic tanks and failing wastewater systems at Muri threaten to contaminate the lagoon with excess nutrient.
Biolytix in conjunction with a local contractor set up a factory in Rarotonga to assemble Biolytix wastewater systems from prefabricated components to minimise costs and make them more accessible. Together with Government initiatives to improve the sanitary situation at Muri to date almost 100 Biolytix tanks are in operation on Rarotonga all helping to minimise the threat of lagoon contamination.
