Biologic SR2 reduces smell by preventing the production of H2S and ammonia through competitive inhibition. It provides conditions that allow methane producing bacteria to out produce hydrogen sulfide producers; methane being an odorless gas.
It will also improve oxygen uptake from the within the wastewater, reducing the need to external aeration; which in turn can reduce energy costs.
Improved breakdown of organic matter results in less sludge. Biologic SR2 can reduce sludge production by up to 25%.
Biologic SR2 hydrolyzes FOG, reducing the build up of fats and grease in the both the plant and the sewer network (if introduced early in the network)
Biologic is highly effective and is usually dosed at rates of 1-50 ppm.
For a typical WWTP with a daily flow of 1MGD, you would need about 2L per day, which equates to 2ppm. Actual dosage rates will vary depending on the process, the issues and the application.
It should be introduced as early in the process as possible. This could be done via the headworks at the start of the plant, or even in upstream pumping stations. Depending on the complexity of the treatment process, it may need to be added at other points through the plant, but usually just adding at the beginning of the process is sufficient.
Application can be done manually, or automatically with a dosing system.
Biologic is not an enzyme-based product and does not contain enzymes. Enzyme products introduce an enzyme which pre-digests the waste for the bacteria to then breakdown, a process called catalysis. They can also work on specific things like fat and grease, which is why enzyme cleaners are popular.
SciCorp BIOLOGIC™ is a proprietary plant-based blend of organic micronutrients that stimulates specific aerobic, anaerobic and facultative bacteria species. In simple terms, Biologic products boost the bacteria to do the job themselves.
